...ACCUMULATING SNOW AND A WINTRY MIX POSSIBLE FOR TUESDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH TUESDAY NIGHT...
AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE WILL TRACK SOUTHEAST ACROSS THE AREA TUESDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH TUESDAY NIGHT. LIGHT SNOW WILL FALL ACROSS ALL LOCATIONS BEGINNING LATE IN THE AFTERNOON ON TUESDAY. AS THE LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM NEARS EASTERN KENTUCKY TUESDAY EVENING...MILDER AIR WILL BE DRAWN IN FROM THE SOUTHWEST...POSSIBLY CHANGING PRECIPITATION FROM SNOW...TO A MIXTURE OF SNOW...SLEET...FREEZING RAIN...AND RAIN. AT THIS TIME...LOCATIONS ALONG AND SOUTHWEST OF A LINE FROM SOMERSET TO MIDDLESBORO WILL HAVE THE BEST CHANCE OF SEEING THE WINTRY MIX. SNOW ACCUMULATIONS WILL AVERAGE AN INCH OR LESS BY EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING...WITH THE POTENTIAL FOR SOME MINOR SLEET AND ICE ACCUMULATIONS AS WELL. LOCATIONS NORTHEAST OF THIS LINE WILL LIKELY REMAIN ALL SNOW...WITH ACCUMULATIONS RANGING FROM 1 TO 3 INCHES BY EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING. THE SNOW WILL THEN TAPER OFF AROUND DAWN WEDNESDAY MORNING.
THERE STILL REMAINS CONSIDERABLE UNCERTAINTY WITH THIS SYSTEM. PEOPLE IN EASTERN KENTUCKY SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND UPDATES ON THIS DEVELOPING WEATHER SITUATION.
