A LOOK AT THE JOHN ROBERTS CONFIRMATION HEARINGS

John Roberts, is set to replace the late William Rehninquist as Supreme Court Chief Justice. It is important for us Americans to know who is on the Supreme court and where they stand on issues that concern us. They will be deciding constitutionality of laws passed by the President, The Senate, and the House of Represenatives.

John Roberts should be the 17th Chief Justice. He should be nominated with little or no
opposition.

Now the facts, evidence, and proof is the Senate Judicery committee is questioning him. Some Senators are going to oppose him on party lines however, he is more than qualified. Roberts, never answered questions on cases he might have to rule on which is what Sandra Day O’Connor did and Ruth Bader Ginsburg never answered questions she might have to rule on either. Infact, Ginsburg never answered over fifty questions on advice from democrats; Ginsburg was confirmed for the court. Roberts was never advsed by Republicans or Democrats. Roberts has argued over two dozen cases before the United States Supreme Court. He knows how the system works and what the procedures are.

President Bush, was smart in nominatting some one who did not have a long paper trail of information to follow him or her. Roberts was confirmed to the cuircut court of appeals in Washington D.C. about two years ago. If he was confirmed ten years ago or in the first Bush administration the Senate Judicery Committee would have more to go on however, Roberts was just confirmed two years ago.

Roberts states he likes baseball and the court is like baseball umpires it does not call balls or strikes before the pitch is thrown. He states the court has set president.

Eighteen Senators are questioning Roberts ten Republicans eight Democrats. He was questioned for 7.5 hours 30minutes for each senator on Tuesday September 13, 2005. Senators will question him for 20minutes on Wednesday September 14, 2005 which is the lightning round. Later in the afternoon on Wednesday September 14, the committee will go in to a closed session to review FBI FILES. I like the foxnews channel television coverage because it gives legal terms and the meaning of legal terms the television coverage also gives key cases to give background.
Foxnews and CSPAN are the major coverage that I have gotton. I have not got no radio coverage. Not all the Senators are there and may be preparing their questions. I have got some coverage from the net which is streaming and uninterrupted coverage from www.foxnews.com and www.msnbc.com and www.cspan.org

He will not overturn ROE V. WADE because the court has set president in the matter it is settled law. He does believe the right to privacy is constitutional.
Roberts has drawn a fair line by not answering cases or hypotheticals in cases that he might have to visit on the court as Chief Justice. Roberts states as a judge he has no agenda like conservative or liberal agendas, as a lawyer you do have an agenda and the agenda of the client. Roberts states I will confront issues that come before me with an open mind. He does not look to the Bible for help on renduring judgements.

Every Senator says Roberts is one of the best wittnesses that has come before the committee. Roberts appeals to both the right [republicans] and the left [democrats]. He has been interupted with no cause to interupt him he can not respond on or about cases that might come up before him.

The affects test or totality of curcumstamces test is a right to vote and discrimination.
Concurance is where justices do not agree with words in an opinion but agree with the result so justices change the words in the opinion until five, which is a majority, agree on the opinion. En bank the entire app court hears oral arguments.

It does not look like Judge John Roberts has any notes before him on questions, memos memorandums, documents, or answers that he should give. Roberts is very prepared despite not having any notes. If he does have notes or any documents he is not looking down to it.
No one has been able to pin Roberts down on any particular issue. The democrats on Tuesday September 13, was short, rude, interuptive. However it is believed that they was asked to tone it down and let him answer. There was a lot of media presents at the hearings the past few days which has made things tense for both Roberts and the Committee. The refusal by Roberts to answer some of the questions posed to him, its likely that all eight Democrats on the committee will vote against Roberts just for not answering questions, this is an extremely stupid move by Democrats. However, the democrats can say to their special interest groups and lobbist we voted against.
